Ongoing Events: Dining at the Club
Enjoy dining with your family, friends and guests at the SRYC. The Club Facilities are open for dining on Friday and Sunday evenings. This year we are pleased to inform you that the Club has a new Chef for the 2009 season. Russell Titland of Andretta's Classic Italian Restaurant in the Highlands will bring his culinary talents to the SRYC.      Call Lee at (732) 747-9873.

One of the great success of the 2008 season was Thursday Pizza Night.  These bi-weekly events represent the opportunity for a light meal out with your family and the chance to spend the evening with your friend from the SRYC.   If you're planning your week and you want to know when the next Thursday Pizza Night will be, simply check the 2009 Thursday Pizza Night Calendar     Call Lee at (732) 747-9873.

Sailing
Ahoy there, so ye fancy yourself a sailor? Well here at the SRYC we've got just the opportunities for you - whether you want to learn the sailing basics, sharpen your sailing skills or show off all those years behind the mast.  This years 2008 Sailing Calendar includes Precision Sailboat Clinics, four Player's Cup Small Boat Races, two Navesink Cup Auxiliary Sailboat Races and the season capping Sandy Hook Bay Race.  Contact Dan Herman or Tom Santry Jr. of the Sailing Committee for information on the Precision Clinic, Players Cup and Navesink Cup races and Bill Wilson for information on the Sandy Hook Bay Race.

Cruising
Cruising is an extremely popular and much anticipated activity at the Shrewsbury River Yacht Club. This year's 2009 Cruise Schedule includes two outstanding cruise plans. The first is the traditional two day Spring "Tune-up" Cruise scheduled for the 2nd weekend in June (June 13th & June 14th) at the Newport Marina and Yacht Club. Contact John Dunnell for more information.  The second is the annual two week Summer Cruise of Long Island Sound scheduled for the 2nd & 3rd weeks in July (July 10th - July 25th).

This year's Summer Cruise is taking shape nicely.  Norm Jacobs, Chairman of the Summer Cruise Committee, put together the "framework" below consisting of fourteen stops.  Its got some of the old favorites, the potential to make some new favorites, and gives consideration the pinch that the oil prices are putting on the power boat owners:

Members who are planning to go with their own boats need to make mooring/docking reservations, as necessary. The Cruise Committee has provided contact phone numbers on the schedule. It is essential to make reservations early since many of the ports and facilities we plan to visit are popular with other boating groups.  Please email any questions to Norm Jacobs.                                                                                                     Remember to look for pictures in the "Galleries" after the cruises.
